Trick or Treat

I have to be honest, when Halloween FINALLY did arrive, I was a little Halloweened out. After three separate parties and about a month before of Kennedy tootling around in her costume, I was ready for them to be put away for a season. But, like any dutiful mom, I tried making the best of the day (or rather... evening). After Pieper woke up with a raging fever and croup, I decided the day may not go as festive as in years past. Really, I just wanted to get through the evening and make sure we all had at least a little fun. Afterall, Kennedy is just starting to get really into this "halloween thing." So, we invited a good friend of ours and her daughter to go with us. They used to live across the street, so her and Kennedy became friends quickly. The night, really, went off without a hitch. Daddy got home early (well... earlier) and the girls had a blast wondering the neighborhood, Pieper stayed all Tylenoled up and mommy probably ate too much candy. The one thing I have yet to figure out is... how do I get rid of all MY candy if I'm out with my husband and children??? Next year, I think I'm recruiting the babysitter to come distribute our candy. Let's just say, the older kids that wondered by after 7:30 made out like banchies!

I totally agree, the actual day of Halloween is overrated. I always get stuck at home, so this year I went out, we left candy on the porch. It was freezing, I almost lost my feet to frostbite and Ethan thought it was fun for about three houses. Then you are stuck with a ton of candy that you really dont want your kids eating and you dont really want to eat either. I think the parties are much more fun!!
