Seven Random Ditties about ME!

I thought it was so fun reading a couple of my friend's posts about "random facts" about themselves, I thought I'd try it out myself. Not thinking it would be too hard to come up with just seven random and unique things about myself, the wheels started turning and I haven't been able to stop thinking about it since. Am I just boring, too conventional or have I lived a pretty "safe" life??? While I do think, to a certain extent, the aforementioned is a little true, what I think it really boils down to is that I lack a great memory. Sad, but true. SO, what you're getting here is a few random things, that I can remember, from my past and present! Here goes!

1. When I was younger I used to love, love, love going to the airport. Just the drive in, the first sight of airplanes would get me excited. I loved walking around the airport, riding on the monorail, waiting for friends or family to leave or arrive and seeing all the action. Everything about the airport I loved. I can still recall a lot of those same emotions I would get going there. I know at one time I had aspirations of becoming a flight attendant. Yikes.

2. I have never broken or sprained a bone, been to the emergency room, had surgery, "been under," or suffered from any kind of allergy. While I don't think this is too unique, I do consider myself pretty lucky. On the flip side though, I've been putting off having oral surgery for the simple fear of the "unknown."

3. I HATE rides. I used to get total anxiety when my family would mention wanting to go to a theme park. I have since learned to politely say no and be okay with just watching. Of course, having little ones to watch after makes that excuse that much easier! I'm always the one watching and cheering from the ground!

4. I used to travel around the U.S. every week working for a company that educated the public on the stock market. It was a wonderful time in my life where I became more poised, confident and independent. I was able to see many beautiful parts of the country. The constant traveling and living out of your suitcase and in hotels became hard after a while and really put a strain on having any kind of social life. I was single then! :)

5. I attended all 3 BYU's! I first started out at BYU-Idaho (then Ricks). Upon graduation, I went to BYU-Hawaii and then transferred to BYU- Utah. I have to put in a disclaimer though. I was only at BYU-Hawaii for 2 weeks! I thought I'd love the whole experience, but after my luggage failed to come for 3 days after arrival, living 30 minutes from campus (didn't know that ahead of time and having no car), knowing not a single person there and not being able to find a job (they tend to be given to the islanders first), I packed my bags and headed home. I did enjoy the island tour the school offered though and spent my days relaxing on the beach and perfecting my tan! I attended class once and was asked out twice while I was there. All was not in vain! I usually don't give up or quit once I started something, but I discovered I was homesick and needed a break from school for a semester. That's when I started the traveling.

6. I love baby dolls, coats and purses. Random, I know. From a young age, I loved baby dolls and started a small collection. I'm very happy to say that Pieper has adapted the same love for baby dolls. It's the one thing she goes to bed with and the first thing she wants when she wakes up. The baby doll goes everywhere with us. It's totally cute. As for the coats and purses, well... I've always loved those. After getting married though, I was "strongly encouraged" to curb the purse buying from my husband. It is a weakness, but I am happy to say, I have learned to control it!

7. I have a small love affair with discount stores- mainly TJ Maxx and Marshalls. You won't believe the GREAT stuff I find there. I have to try and limit myself to going there. I can easily spend an hour or more browsing and usually buying. For example, check out this AMAZING lamp I picked up at TJ Maxx on Saturday. This lamp would have easily cost well over $100 at a designer store. Guess how much I paid??? $39.00!!! Yep, aren't ya jealous?!?

Sounds like an ad for TJ Maxx. I've never had any luck at any of those kinds of stores. I guess I lack the patience! I love that you hate rides! I'm there with you! And...I'm proud of you for not buying purses so often...so that was a big feat to not buy one at Shaunie's purse parties in the past!! You go girl!

Love the lamp and the deal you got on it!! It's beautiful! I rarely get that lucky!!!

I almost became a flight attendant too! Was interviewed in SLC, was handed a plane ticket to Chicago, interviewed there and then a DUMB BOY asked me to stay. Sometimes I wish I had done it....
