A Pretty Perfect Sunday

I love taking short roadtrips that make you feel like you've gotten away without actually having to travel too far. I remember taking driving trips with my family growing up exploring new places around here. It was a favorite of mine. I want to give my girls the same memories and experiences, so this past Sunday we did an impromtu trip up Chinook Pass to Tipsoo Lake. It was amazing! And, the best part, it was only an hour drive from our house and we were deep in the beautiful cascade mountains with a breath-taking view of Mt. Rainier. Ahhh... heaven. We packed a picnic lunch and enjoyed the views. Jake kept remarking that he thought this would be a lot like heaven. It was peaceful, quiet, and, did I say gorgeous?!
Afterwards, we set out to hike around the lake. We also explored some other trails that led us to the Pacific Crest Trail. The girls did awesome. They were quite proud that they hiked so far. I think they kinda liked being "nature girls."

how cool! Guess what I see when I drive an hour from my house...NOTHING but more flat land and tumble weeds! I know, poor me! :) I really do miss the NW!
