Kindergarten!

Today was Kennedy's FIRST day of Kindergarten! What a major day for our family! She woke up boldly this morning saying, "mom, I know what today is!" I kept asking her all morning if she was nervous and she just shook her head calmly "no." Wish I wasn't so nervous! I have secretly been dreading this day for a while now. I wasn't ready to send my baby off and enter this new chapter to our lives. She was ready though. And that made me happy.

The night before, Jake gave her a father's blessing. The first of many to come. It was tender and sweet. Afterwards, we gave her a very special present for the start to this new year. It is a beautifully beaded necklace with her name on it. I told her to wear it and if she ever got lonely, scared or just missed us while at school, she could hold onto her necklace and know that we love her and are there with her. She thought it was pretty special and I did too.

Kennedy getting some last-minute hugs and kisses from mom and dad. Mommy shed some tears (and I think daddy did too!).
And she's off!
I, of course, had to run up to the school for one last good-bye. Her class was waiting patiently with their teacher until everyone arrived.

Time to go to class!
She did it!!!
So we came home and celebrated with cupcakes!
I am so proud of this little girl. She is kind, loving, patient, brave, independent and a joy to our family. Way to go, Kennedy!

Congratulations of making it through the big day! Chloe started pre-school today and I was so lost being at home all by myself--time goes by too fast!

It is so hard to send your first off to Kindergarten. Your necklace idea is a great one! I'll have to remember that in the future.
