Pumpkin Picking 2008

There are a few things throughout the year that I truly look forward to. For whatever reason, visiting the pumpkin patch is one of them. Before I had a family of my own, I would tag along with all my nieces and relish in the their anticipation of picking the perfect pumpkin. Something about the bright fall colors everywhere, the cool-crisp air, the warm jackets and perhaps fall sweaters that overflow me with nostalgia. So, it's with eager anticipation that I look forward each year to taking my kids. Last year was a bit of a bummer.... instead of this:We did this:

Not quite the same thing. Maybe that's why I was so excited with the arrival of fall this year?! I had the day marked on the calendar, fingers crossed the weather would cooperate and the girls prepped all week for our visit to the pumpkin patch! All week they kept saying, "mom, I'm so excited to go to the pumpkin patch" and I would think in my head, "ME TOO!" So, when Saturday arrived, we all jumped in the car ready for our great pumpkin adventure!

We went to our favorite little family-owned farm in Orting. We visited the animals, went through a cornmaze and showed the girls all the best things about picking out a pumpkin in a real pumpkin patch.

While Pieper was content to just sit on every pumpkin...

Kennedy had to walk the rows and rows until she found the perfect one.

Alas, it looks like we have a winner!

eventually she settled on one too!

It was a GREAT day!
