For the 4th of July this year, we made a very-last-minute trip to Lake Chelan. In last minute, I mean, decide at 6 pm Saturday night, pack in less than 1 hour and we're off! We pulled in about midnight that night and tucked the girls in from the car to their beds.
The next morning, after being joined by Michael, Ashley, Levi, Gary & Cheryl, we loaded up the boat and spent a gorgeous afternoon on the river.
Each of the girls got their turn driving the boat for the first time. They weren't so sure at first, but afterwards, loved their bragging rights.

Only a few of us were brave enough to take a dip in the ICY river water, and Kennedy really tried hard to make the plunge.
Lunch never tastes quite as good as when you're out on the boat. Such a perfect afternoon for relaxing.
Some got a little too relaxed...
On Monday, the 4th, we spent more time on the boat and at the local beach we love. The girls spent hours playing in the sand and water. 
It was hard to leave later that evening, but on the way home we enjoyed a "traveling fireworks show." We arrived home around 10:30 that night to a neighborhood filled with smoke and still lots of partying by those around us. But, for us, it was the perfect way to spend our holiday weekend.
