The weekend of May 29th through the 31st, Jake and I took the girls and went to Lake Chelan. It was great! Since Friday was the morning of Kennedy's preschool graduation and Jake had a final that day, we had to wait until both were over to leave. But, after a real quick packing job, and a few hours in the car, we arrived around 7:30 that night. Since the house had been winterized and we were the first to come for the season, we entered with caution! Only a few spiders and bugs cohabitated in the house, but after Jake's mom advised us to "bomb" the house, we had to set out for a couple hours away. So at 8:45 that night, we loaded the girls in the car and headed into town. Since it was still light out we decided to take them to the park. They loved playing outside on the super-cool playground and walking down on the beach. Jake even gave poor Ireland her first dip in the lake. As you can see, she didn't like it too much. A bit chilly for her warm little body. Since we had about an hour left to kill, we wondered Walmart for supplies for the next two days. Nothing like shopping at Walmart with your kids at 10 o'clock at night!
Since the girls were dying to go play at the beach, we loaded up a day's worth food, treats, beach toys and towels. We have a favorite "local" spot we like to go to since the public beaches tend to get a little crazy. We all had fun relaxing, catching some sun (both Jake and I, of course, left sunburned!), and watching the girls play.
Later that night, after some much needed naps for all of us, we grabbed some pizza and took the girls bowling. They LOVED it! Kennedy was grooving to the music the whole time and both girls gave mom a run for her money!
The next day, we had a leisurely morning followed by 3-hours of cleaning the house for future vacationers. We wanted to do something fun before we left for home, so we took the girls miniature golfing. Jake is determined that Kennedy will be his little golfing buddy, so he made sure to teach them the "proper" way to golf. The had fun, up until the last few holes, when both they and I decided it was way to warm outside and head for the air-conditioned car. We left daddy finishing up his rounds.
It was a wonderful weekend for our family- Ireland did great, the girls played together well and Jake and I were able to clear our heads and relax for a few days. We are so grateful to have a place to "escape" to and look forward to going back again soon.
