We had a really fun 4th of July this year! Our day started early by attending our ward party where the kids got to star in their very own parade. Kennedy been talking about this parade for weeks before so the day arrived with eager anticipation. Here they are with bikes decorated and all!
We only had one minor mishap during the whole adventure. Us, in all our excitement, sent Kennedy and Pieper on their way along with about 25 other excited kids. Me, thinking this parade would be fairly short and simple, didn't pack a helmet or think about instructing Kennedy about using her brakes. So, as I'm snapping pictures of the kids and Jake's holding Ireland, Jake comments to me, "does Kennedy know how to use her brakes?" Just then, we both look to watch her fall off her bike. The parade "route" went down a small drive that was on a bit of an decline and she got nervous amongst all the kids zooming past her and spilled. Off to the rescue, daddy literally "tossed" Ireland into some strangers arms to go help Kennedy. After a bit of shock, embarrassment and a skined-up knee, Kennedy finished the rest of the parade with daddy by her side. With a little encouragement from the crowd, Pieper also finished the parade on her scooter. The girls also got to sit in an old firetruck and enjoy celebrating with all their primary friends.
Later, we went to my brother's house to BBQ, swim and celebrate. We all had a blast!
