As I mentioned in the previous post, we spent this past weekend in Leavenworth. For whatever reason, it has become a tradition for us to go over there atleast once a year. Usually around September when kids are back in school and the weather is still decent. I've been going to Leavenworth since I can remember with my family, and since Jake and I have been married, I've incorporated this tradition into our family. It's a great place to go and feel like you've gotten away without having to travel long distances. Due to a wedding on Saturday for Jake's cousin, we weren't able to leave until late afternoon. When we got there, much to Jake's excitement, there happen to be a Corvette car show going on right at our hotel. Ahhh... great.... we hardly got our bags in the room and Jake was suggesting we take a walk. A walk?!? My Jake??? He NEVER suggests taking walks! Ohhh.... the car show. That's right. So, we ventured out kids in tow around 9 pm to look at the oh so nice Corvette's the Jake is one day determined to own. Good to have goals, right?! So, since we were out, we decided to walk through town and enjoy the crisp night air. Did you know they have a Coldstone there now??? Oh no. Don't even mention ice cream around Kennedy. So, being the good parents we are :), we decided to take the kids for ice cream. BUT, Jake forgot his wallet! Uh oh. So he kindly suggests I run, yes, literally run, back and get it. I couldn't disappoint the kiddos, so yes, I ran back and got the wallet. I felt better about eating my cookie dough ice cream though...
So, the next morning, we realized we mistakenly told Kennedy this place had a really fun pool. At the crack of dawn Kennedy is in my face saying, "I want to go swimming, mommy, let's go swimming." Uhhh... in a minute, Kennedy. So, we mustered out of bed, ate a quick breakfast and threw on our suits to enjoy a refreshing morning swim together.

After our mid-morning swim, we decided we needed some retail therapy. The girls loved picking out little treats and mommy and daddy loved picking out our totally bad-for-you treats!

After our shopping spree, we decided the kids needed to take a little nap, so what's better to put them to sleep then a nice car ride?! We love driving the Icicle Creek Rd.- it's so beautiful and scenic. This time though, we ventured farther off the county road and saw some beautiful country.

How fun! We'll have to go to Leavenworth one of these years. I haven't been there since I was like 13 or so and I don't remember much.
