A Week in Review

Well, we started this past week off fun with a birthday party at The Family Fun Center in Tukwila. Kennedy was a brave girl and went on her first "thrill" ride! The first time she attempted this ride (when she was just over two) we had to have them stop it after the first drop! She about hyper-ventilated! But this time, no fear for her- she did great! I think it helped though that her cousins were with her.
Pieper also enjoyed the party by practicing her climbing skills in the kid zone. She was having so much fun with the big kids it was hard to get her out. It took a good head-first spill down the slide to do her in!

On Tuesday, Jake and I were able to enjoy a night out at the Mariners game. We had great seats and great company. Too bad the Mariners had a rough game...

While at home this week, Pieper discovered one of Kennedy's coloring markers. As you can see from the pictures, she's either discovered her sister's passion for lipstick, or just got lucky in her placement! Notice the pen marks on my floor also! Her bath water was pink that evening!

Pieper this week has also discovered how to navigate the stairs a little better. I've been holding off on showing her how to back down them for the per convenience of keeping her in one spot, but I'm afraid her determination is getting the best of me and she's quickly learning the benefits of being able go both up and down. In trivial news about Pieper, she's graduated from her size 3 diapers to size 4. We haven't tried them out yet, but I'm hoping they'll eliminate all the morning leakage we deal with around here.
In some down time this week, the girls and I enjoyed a quiet day at home playing outside and soaking in some Seattle sun. We're currently working on putting in a sprinkler system, so we had to work around the trenches, but nonetheless, the girls and I had a great day swimming, playing and trying to do a little as possible. Days like that are meant to be enjoyed!

This picture is of Kennedy massaging her face against the screen door... cute, I know! :)

On Friday, my dad, Jake, the girls and I went to watch the Blue Angels on the I-90 bridge. Jake had never (crazy, huh?!?) seen them perform, so we got him out of work for a few hours to enjoy it with us. I was a little worried about how the girls might take to them and the level of the noise, but they did great. We taught Kennedy how to cover her ears ahead of time but I think she was so enamered by them, she completely forgot to do it! Pieper on the other hand was so dog-tired by time the show started, she lasted for the first 5 minutes and then conked out on us. What a relief! As you will see, Kennedy only lasted for about 15 minutes more than Pieper. We have noticed that with our girls, if they get scared or apprehensive about something, they fall asleep! Here they are after the big air show...

On Saturday, Jake and my dad ventured down to the Seafair pits to watch some of the races. Again, it was Jake's first time doing that. I definitely think they enjoyed their "male bonding" time together. It was good to know that after Jake returned home though, he wished we had been with him. Ahhhhhh........... another good week! :)
